Where students create integrated circuits from scratch...

Each year approximately 120 students are taught the techniques of fabricating integrated circuits utilizing modern equipment donated from industry.

An important concept of the laboratory is hands on training. Although it is unlikely that the students will work with identical equipment in their career, the understanding of general processes gained through experience will prepare them to work in a modern fab.

ECE444 provides both practical and theoretical experience in modern integrated circuit fabrication technologies.

Please view the 444 lab presentation for more details (requires MS Power Point).

The ece444 laboratory was recently shown on ESPN during the UIUC vs Ohio State University football game.
